RentHelpPGH is hiring Eviction Rapid Response Outreach Coordinators to serve residents of Allegheny County experiencing or at risk of experiencing eviction.

What is RentHelpPGH?

In June 2020, Community Justice Project, Hill District Consensus Group, and Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation joined forces to address the impending eviction crisis. RentHelpPGH has since grown into an independent organization striving to connect Allegheny County's most vulnerable residents with the services they need to stabilize their household.

 

Short-List Qualifications of the Position Include:

  • Access to personal vehicle when necessary
  • Ability to travel to remote locations within Allegheny County
  • Highly effective customer service skills
  • A strong desire to help their neighbors in crisis,

  • Personal experience navigating social services
  • Have knowledge of and comfort with computers and using a developing online customer management platform and be curious, creative and flexible.

RentHelpPGH is hiring Help Desk Navigators to serve residents of Allegheny County in need of rental, utility, and legal assistance as well as a myriad of other services.

What is RentHelpPGH?

Short-List Qualifications the Positions Include:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Provide excellent customer services to clients who are potentially facing household crisis
  • Provide contracted amount of weekly hours answering and returning calls that come into the RentHelpPGH Help Desk
  • Providde clear and compassionate communication to clients experiencing trauma
  • Identify resources appropriate to the client's needs
  • Assess client's eligibility for programs
  • Assist client with connecting to resources
  • Review any and all requirements and procedures for applications with clients
  • When necessary, assist clients in applying for resources, including setting up accounts for online applications, gathering documents, submitting documents to appropriate providers, etc.
  • Follow the designated processes for using the RentHelpPGH platform, Authorization forms, Referrals, Eviction Rapid Response Platform, and additional services
  • Other duties as necessary or requested to support the Resource Navigation for RentHelpPGH clients.
  • Position is remote, work-from-home, and requires a personal computer and reliable internet

Allegheny Youth Development Elementary Program Coordinator

Part-Time Position - avg. 20 hrs/wk

Pay: $17-$20/hr

Location: Pittsburgh Morrow PreK - 8

Position Overview:

The Site Coordinator is responsible for establishing and implementing the Allegheny Youth Development (AYD) after-school tutoring and academic assistance program at Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-8 in Brighton Heights during the school year, and implementing AYD’s social and emotional learning program using the Strong Kids curriculum. The coordinator is required to be on-site at the school Monday through Friday from 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. during regularly scheduled school days.  Planning and administrative hours may be scheduled at the coordinator’s discretion.  Typical total hours average 20 per week.  The site is staffed with a variety of support staff and volunteers who work under the direction of the site coordinator. The program is designed to work with students who are experiencing academic and behavior difficulties.

Program Overview

AYD provides out-of-school-time programming for children and youth in grades K through 12 on Pittsburgh’s North Side.  AYD’s program mix combines academic assistance such as tutoring and homework help with an innovative approach to develop social and emotional skills that includes a proven SEL curriculum and activities such as judo, golf, chess and basketball.  Results are measured in improved grades, increased standardized test scores, and improvements on a well-researched SEL evaluation tool, along with surveys conducted among parents, teachers and the students themselves.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with school administration to identify and recruit eligible children.
  • Build strong relationships with all participants and their families.
  • Secure and submit all enrollment paperwork for all participants.
  • Meet with all participants and their parent/guardian to review program expectations
  • Manage all on-site operations of daily programming. This includes managing the site team of support staff and/or volunteers
  • Create, schedule and coordinate all daily operations for the site, including daily activities & scheduled trips in adherence with the organization's elementary program model.
  • Ensure production and distribution of program information documents, including weekly and monthly schedules/calendars of academic and recreation activities, field trips and events, to participants and their families as a recruitment and parent engagement tool.
  • Track and record daily attendance
  • Monitor site operations and handle any discipline issues.
  • Build relationships with school administration, teachers and counselors
  • Build relationships with parents and guardians through calls, mailings, and events
  • Coordinate the food program & student daily dismissal procedures
  • Coordinate all special events and field trips
  • Attend team meetings and trainings, as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field, or at least 2 years of out of school time program management experience
  • Experience working with urban elementary and middle school youth
  • Experience in staff management
  • Child abuse, PA State Police and FBI background clearances (AYD can assist in obtaining these)
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Basic technology skills
  • Personal or Public transportation
  • Availability during all program hours described above

New Century Careers (NCC) is accepting applications for their upcoming tuition-free machinist training class (M2K) that will start on October 4, 2021. Academic Coach for Gwen's Girls

Academic Coach is a part-time, independent contractor position. Minimum pay is $15 per hour.

Gwen's Girls Mission

To empower girls and young women to have productive lives through holistic, gender-specific programs, education, and experiences.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Academic Coach works with girls and boys in a virtual environment providing academic coaching and support to students in the Pittsburgh area in grades K-12.

Our Academic Coaches have a wide skill range that includes ELA, math, science, foreign language, SPED, and others.

Academic Coaches work with students on skill-building, homework assistance, essay writing and college –prep. Academic coaching takes place on an individual or group level based upon the need of the student.

Schedule

Varies based on submitted availability; the coaching program takes place Monday-Saturday from 9:00am -7:00pm.

Essential Job Function

  • Provide ongoing academic support to assigned client.
  • Plan effective instruction that supports academic growth.
  • Weekly submission of lesson plans.
  • Bi-monthly submission of progress notes.
  • Effective communication with parents, team members and support agencies.
  • Attendance at all mandatory organizational trainings.
  • Adherence to policies and procedures of organization.
  • Incorporates Sanctuary tools and practices into everyday interactions to create a trauma-informed environment. Upholds the principles of Sanctuary to provide a therapeutic framework and culture.

Educational/Knowledge Requirements

Minimum requirement is a high school student; HS diploma or higher preferred.
